Darren supports the Finance Manager by handling Viclink’s month-end financial processes and providing financial analysis to support greater understanding of Viclink’s work programmes—including the commercialisation team’s start-up businesses and the knowledge transfer team’s ELTO intakes.
Born in Wellington, Darren moved with his family to Malaysia when he was two, before returning at 16 and discovering his passion for accounting at Onslow College.
After graduating from Victoria University of Wellington with a Bachelor of Commerce degree—majoring in Accounting and Commercial Law—Darren laid the foundations for his career by working for Audit New Zealand and beginning the Chartered Accountant exams he has now completed. Most recently, Darren worked as an assistant accountant for the Department of Corrections, focusing on projects in the capital planning space.
A keen football fan and trained St John’s volunteer, Darren sponsors three children through World Vision (two in Malawi, one in Myanmar) and is planning a mission trip with his church in the near future.
